William J. L. Newton, DO, is a board-certified physician with a specialty in physical medicine and rehabilitation and pain medicine. Dr. Newton is a valuable part of the team at the Interventional Spine and Pain Center in Manchester and Murfreesboro, Tennessee. 

Dr. Newton received his medical education at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University, in Downers Grove, Illinois. He completed his residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where he served as chief resident. 

While a member of the Medical Corps of the US Army, Dr. Newton served as assistant chief of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He was honorably discharged at the rank of major and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and a Meritorious Service Medal.  

Dr. Newton serves as an assistant clinical professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. He’s considered an expert in his field and has contributed significantly in the area of spinal cord stimulation. 

Dr. Newton has a passion for helping patients manage pain without overuse of opioids by providing the latest technologies in spinal health and pain management. He was the first in the world to implant a variety of neuromodulator devices and continues to offer up-to-date, personalized plans of care to each patient under his care. 

Dr. Newton resides in Christiana, Tennessee, with his wife and two daughters. In his spare time, he shares time with his family and supports his daughters' passion for equestrian competition.
